Why Suriname?

Suriname's offshore potential is attracting more attention from the industry. Over the years, renowned IOCs have partnered with Staatsolie to unlock the huge hydrocarbon potential of the Suriname-Guyana basin. We welcome all interested parties to join us.

Why now?

2020 was a remarkable year for Staatsolie with their first offshore discovery. There have been now 5 discoveries in the prolific Block 58 since 2020 operated by TotalEnergies (with a 50% working interest and APA Corporation who holds the remaining 50%). “This successful exploration well at Krabdagu-1 is a significant addition to the discovered resources in the central area of Block 58. This result encourages us to continue our exploration and appraisal strategy of this prolific Block 58 in order to identify sufficient resources by year end 2022 for a first oil development” said Kevin McLachlan, Senior Vice President, Exploration at TotalEnergies.

These finds, together with the Sloanea discovery on Block 52 by operator Petronas and partner ExxonMobil, put Suriname firmly on the map.
